If you use a mod manager, after installing the hi res dlc or optimized version, you can install Skyrim HD 2K to see how it looks and can easily remove it without compromising your other textures. I personally prefer using Skyrim HD 2K with Vivid Landscapes over the hi res dlc as even the lite versions still look good.

I don't care if you have a state of the art high end system, Skyrim's engine only uses a base amount of memory and 2 processors, even with ENBoost, these texture packs are still crap. I ran High Res Pack 01 through DDSpot and the size didn't change. I looked at the files and they seem identical.
